The ILX engine produces 201-hp and 180 lb-ft of torque for immediate throttle response. Intelligent Variable Timing and Lift Control (i-VTEC) increase available horsepower by opening the intake valves longer and deeper at 4,500 rpm and above. Plenty of power to speed around Nashville, but hopefully not enough to buy you too many tickets!
Designed in-house at Acura to compliment the ILX engine, the 8-speed DCT provides a smooth and fast shifting experience that’s more efficient than a traditional automatic transmission. How does it achieve manual transmission like performance? Simple, two clutches. One clutch is dedicated for odd-numbered gears and the other for even gears. While one clutch is engaged for the current gear, sensors predict upshifts and downshifts making the transmission feel far more responsive.
This feature works in combination with the ILX’s antilock brakes to reduce the risk of over-or understeering. By monitoring speed, lateral G-forces, and other specs, this system can sense if the torque needs to be adjusted and applies braking to individual wheels automatically. This keeps the ILX stable at speeds and in inclement weather conditions. Rain, snow, or sleet, the 2021 ILX delivers sports inspired performance!
The Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure is designed to keep all occupants safe in a crash. Crumple zones help to direct damage away from passengers, and the entire frame is designed to distribute crash forces evenly.
The forward-facing camera of the AcuraWatch Plus system helps to keep track of lane position. If you begin to drift out of the lane without first using the turn signal, the system gently nudges the steering wheel to center you in your lane.
The AcuraWatch Plus suite uses a radar transmitter as well as a front-facing camera to detect the likelihood of a collision and alerts you, and can engage the Collision Mitigating Braking system to begin slowing you down if you don’t respond quickly enough.

This is my second Acura RDX. I bought a used 2019 a few years ago and loved it! I decided to trade my 2019 in and buy a new 2022 RDX when they came out. I had to wait a few months longer but so worth the wait. Lenny K was my salesperson for both cars. His level of knowledge about the cars and honestly his customer service is amazing.
