The new TLX’s performance intentions are obvious through its low and wide stance, long dash-to-axle ratio, expansive hood, tapered greenhouse, and pronounced rear haunches. The bold Acura signature Diamond Pentagon front grille and new “Chicane” daytime running lights are paired with new four-lamp Jewel Eye® LED headlights. The new TLX features a longer wheelbase, a wider body with wider front and rear tracks, a lower roof, and an extended dash-to-axle dimension. The sedan’s sleek and dynamic side profile uses sheer, angled surfaces to create strong light-and-shadow contrasts. Larger 18-inch wheels are standard, and 19-inch and 20-inch wheels in various finishes — depending on trim — are also available. The new body structure uses advanced, lightweight materials, including aluminum and press-hardened steel. An expanded color palette is available, with nine exterior finishes including five premium colors. The all-new TLX redefines the art of performance.
Acura’s highly popular A-Spec sport package adds distinctive sport appearance upgrades, including Shark Grey 19-inch wheels, gloss black accents front to rear, darkened headlight and taillight treatment, and a pronounced rear decklid spoiler.
The TLX Type S builds upon the A-Spec styling elements, enhancing the TLX’s sporty appearance. Aerodynamic elements include a rear decklid spoiler, aggressive front splitter and rear diffuser, and large quad exhaust outlets. Two exclusive 20-inch wheels designs will be offered — a split-10 spoke design from the Type S Concept and an NSX-inspired lightweight “Y-Spoke” wheel — both wrapped in 255-series performance rubber.
The new TLX offers two powerful and high-torque turbocharged engines. Standard power comes from a 2.0-liter DOHC, direct-injected and turbocharged engine with VTEC®. With 272 hp and 280 lb.-ft. of torque, the TLX’s 2.0-liter turbo boasts the highest horsepower in its core competitive set, delivering dramatic gains in horsepower and torque. The TLX Type S features an all-new 3.0-liter, 24-valve, DOHC direct-injected and turbocharged engine. The new transverse-mounted V6 is highly compact and lightweight, utilizing a dual scroll turbocharger and electronic wastegate to deliver an immediate, high-torque response.
The long-awaited Type S is the pinnacle of Precision Crafted Performance®. An all-new exclusive 3.0-liter V-6 Turbo engine propels the Type S, making it the quickest Acura sedan ever. Large upgraded front brakes provide powerful and consistent stopping strength to tackle tight corners confidently. The TLX Type S is the next chapter of Acura’s rich performance-driven heritage. *available Spring of 2021
Acura’s 10-speed automatic, with Sequential SportShift and standard paddle shifters, takes full advantage of both turbocharged engines’ high-torque output, offering a wider ratio range, more discrete gears, four-gear direct downshifts, and a lower first gear. Type S models will have unique transmission tuning, providing an aggressive response during performance driving scenarios.
All TLX models offer available rear-biased Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®), Acura’s industry-leading torque-vectoring all-wheel drive technology. SH-AWD is offered as optional equipment on the 2.0-liter TLX and as standard technology on the TLX Type S. This 4th-generation SH-AWD® system has 40% more rear torque capacity and 30% quicker front-to-rear torque transfer. The SH-AWD® system in the new TLX transfers up to 70% of engine torque to the rear axle during normal driving conditions and elevates performance for sharper, more accurate turns and crisp cornering.
The new chassis with double-wishbone front suspension offers more precise handling and cornering grip, along with greater mechanical compliance for improved ride quality. The TLX chassis incorporates multiple new performance-focused engineering upgrades, including a variable-ratio steering system, electro-servo brake-by-wire technology applied from the NSX, and an available driver-selectable Adaptive Damper System.
The new TLX utilizes a highly sophisticated electric-servo brake system originally developed for the second-generation NSX. This system includes finely tuned brake pedal force and electronically controlled brake pressure to optimize the vehicle’s performance driving characteristics. For the TLX Type S, multiple hardware upgrades, including larger discs and four-piston Brembo front calipers, improve braking performance and enhance the performance-focused tuning of the entire braking system.
The seating is designed for all-day comfort with abundant lateral support. Soft-touch seating materials help hold the driver and passengers in position while cornering. The advanced front sport seats are highly customizable with up to 16-way power adjustability. The high, wide center tunnel and wrap-around instrument panel create a more personal space for both front-seat occupants. For the driver, a robust leather-wrapped steering wheel, clean and clear instrumentation, and improved forward visibility provide an exhilarating driving experience.
The TLX features available ambient LED lighting throughout the cabin that changes with each driving mode (Comfort, Normal, Sport), as well as 24 selectable interior lighting schemes, each named after an iconic performance driving destination or track, such as “Pacific Coast” and “Suzuka.”
The standard auto-dimming rearview mirror reduces glare from the headlights of following vehicles, helping preserve the driver’s night vision. One-touch turn signals provide push-and-release turn signal convenience for lane changes. Standard steering wheel-mounted controls allow the driver to command multiple functions and operations — including integrated smartphone controls, multi-Information Display (MID), and the audio system — with just a fingertip. Technology, A-Spec, and Advance Package models add controls for the Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition™ and Advance Package models add a heated steering wheel.
The 10.2-inch full-HD display helps you keep your eyes on the road by providing an intuitive touch interface for a wide range of systems. This advanced interface combines a conventional touchscreen with a remote-based interface in a dual-zone touchpad with absolute position mapping.
The standard Acura Premium Audio System with 10 speakers accepts multiple input sources and speed-sensitive volume control, automatically increasing audio gain with road speed. Other available premium systems include a 13-speaker system and a 17-speaker system, both delivering amazing clarity and power. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration are available in the TLX, seamlessly connecting your smartphone’s key features with your vehicle.
AcuraLink keeps you connected while driving, expanding the vehicle’s technology capabilities with a host of convenience, security, and media features. The system accesses cloud-based computing resources using embedded cellular technology, in concert with the driver’s compatible smartphone and data package. All packages require enrollment in AcuraLink®, which is enabled by pressing the Link button, dialing 1-877-375-2638, or via the iN, in the AcuraLink® menu.
The AcuraWatch™ suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies is standard on all 2021 TLX models. AcuraWatch™ includes several new features, such as Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), Driver Awareness Monitor, and Traffic Jam Assist (TJA). Working in conjunction with Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow, Traffic Jam Assist helps reduce driver stress in highly congested traffic situations by helping keep the vehicle in its lane and at a set interval behind a car detected ahead. AcuraWatch™ also includes the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ with forward collision warning, Road Departure Mitigation system with lane departure warning, and a Lane Keeping Assist System.
The 2021 TLX features new front passenger airbag technology. The three-chamber design functions like a baseball catcher’s mitt, designed to more effectively cradle and help protect the front seat occupant’s head, to mitigate potential injury in more steeply angled frontal collisions.
Acura’s proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure provides additional occupant protection in a wider range of collision scenarios. Other structural safety features include ultra-high-strength-steel one-piece door rings and an ultra-stiff center tunnel to help optimize the absorption and direction of collision forces around the cabin.
The available Blind Spot Information System provides visible and audible cues to alert you when signaling a lane change into an adjacent, occupied lane. Radar sensors in the rear bumper can trigger an alert if another vehicle is detected alongside or just to the rear in an adjacent lane. A warning light near the outside rearview mirror can alert you to the detected vehicle on that side. If the turn signals are activated to indicate a lane change when a vehicle is detected alongside, the system will issue an audible tone.
Enhance your awareness and confidence when parking or maneuvering in confined areas with the available Surround View camera system. Cameras in the grille, outside mirrors, and rear license plate frame show real-time images in the upper audio/information display. When the vehicle is in Park or Drive, the Camera button allows the driver to select front ground view, front side view, or left and right side views. Guidelines help provide a sense of distance between the vehicle and surrounding obstacles, and projection lines show the vehicle’s projected direction of travel relative to the steering wheel’s position.
The available Head-Up Display helps you keep your eyes on the road by projecting crucial driving information onto the lower portion of the windshield. This information may include current speed, current mode for Adaptive Cruise Control, tachometer,
gear-position indicator, or turn-by-turn directions. You can choose which items are shown on the Head-Up Display using steering wheel-mounted controls or the True Touchpad Interface.

I bought my Acura MDX in 2012, and for the past 8+ years, I have had its service done at Gary Force Acura. Eight years, and every single time they've been professional and courteous. I always request a loaner car, and it's there and clean and ready to go. They keep me updated during the service, and they don't suggest unnecessary services. My car is running just as good now as it did when it was brand new. My next car will be another Acura from Gary Force.

This would have been an Excellent experience but one of the reason for my Visit was finding a replacement Light Cover for the interior driver side door. They completely forgot to address that and focused on the more costly services. The Dealership is far from me so one wants to maximize every visit. Recently had my car routinely serviced and when I picked up my TLX they pointed out a spot on the exterior and asked if that was there or something that happened while in their service. Had my car serviced yesterday and the process could not have been easier. The whole process was very smooth. An agent greeted me upon arrival, was ready to take my car for service, provided me with a loaner. I received an update via text (my preference) regarding the time my car would be ready for pickup. I returned the loaner after work and received my car, with details regarding my service. My car received the planned service, plus was clean after a wash and vacuum. Thanks for excellent service!
